Description
Discover the refined quality of our Veg Aniline Glazed Kangaroo Leather, crafted from premium Australian kangaroo hide and tanned through a traditional vegetable-tanning process. With a thickness of 0.7–0.9 mm, this leather offers an extraordinary strength-to-weight ratio—kangaroo leather is globally known as one of the strongest and most durable leathers for its thickness.
What sets this material apart is its glazed finish, created through a traditional glass burnishing technique. This finishing method uses no added products or chemicals—only polished glass that naturally compresses and smooths the leather fibres. The result is a natural glossy sheen that highlights the hide’s character, increases fibre density, and enhances durability.
Because the glazing further compresses and tightens the fibres, this leather becomes even more compact, firm, and resistant, making it exceptionally suitable for braiding, lacing, and other strength-demanding leathercraft techniques. Kangaroo leather already has exceptional tensile strength, but this glass burnished process adds even more rigidity, resilience, and cutting stability, making it perfect for high-performance braids, whips, and lacework.
Its full-grain nature ensures that this leather ages gracefully, develops a rich patina, and reveals unique natural variations from one hide to another. This makes it ideal for high-quality small leather goods, including:
-
Wallets
-
Cardholders
-
Watch straps
-
Small bags and accents
-
Braiding and leather lace
-
Fine handcrafted accessories
Each hide is certified, sustainably produced, and averages 0.50–0.55 m², giving craftspeople generous usable area for detailed work.
Available in six colours: Black, Red, Tan, Brandy, Green, and Navy.
Kangaroo Leather – High Strength, Lightweight and Durable
Kangaroo leather is, weight for weight, the strongest leather available. Its structure is composed of highly organised main fibre bundles supported by a secondary mesh. Thanks to its low angle of weave, low fat content and very thin grain layer, K-Leather delivers superior strength compared to other leather types of similar thickness.
Naturally thin by nature, kangaroo leather maintains its full strength without the need for heavy splitting or shaving—processes that significantly reduce the physical performance of other raw material types.
The unique properties of kangaroo fibre structure are further enhanced through our innovative processing techniques, providing product designers with a versatile, strong and lightweight natural material.
