Description
The Skiving Knife is designed specifically for skiving leather, featuring a 60º cutting angle that provides optimal precision for thinning leather edges. The knife is custom-made with Damasteel RWL34 steel for superior durability, sharpness, and performance. Paired with a Desert Ironwood (Olneya Tesota) handle, it ensures both comfort and durability during use.
Perfect for leather artisans, this knife allows for clean, controlled skiving to achieve uniform leather thickness. It is available in both 60º and 90º versions, suitable for right- and left-handed users. The blade thickness ranges from 3.4mm at the handle to 1mm at the bevel, allowing for fine, precise work.
Instructions for Use:
To keep this knife always sharp, I recommend having a strop with polishing paste nearby and giving the knife a touch-up while you work.
If the edge loses sharpness or you need more precision, use Matador Wet & Dry sandpaper or a sharpening stone (minimum 2000 grit).
Always run the knife at the correct angle and in the right direction—never against the edge. Every 10-12 uses, run the knife 3-4 times over the back side of the blade (never against the edge) to remove the burr.
