But the real improvement lies in its updated design: in contrast with the original version which used only wood, V2 now features adjustment bars made from bakelite. This change was implemented because many users and other suppliers had reported issues with screw grip on the wooden bars. The bakelite bars provide superior thread engagement, ensuring that the screws hold firmly — even under repeated adjustments — and significantly improving the tool’s durability and reliability over time.
The Strap Cutter V2 is supplied with one pre-cut blade and is compatible with any standard 18 mm cutter blade, giving you flexibility for future replacements. What can I say…I love walnut, I love brass and I love good quality tools. And since this tool is also an essential for every leather worker, I can only recommend it to anyone who needs to cut straps. It is manufactured wonderfully and definitely worth the price. Although it is the most expensive strap cutter made from wood that I saw so far (which doesnt mean there are not a lot of others out there) it is also the visually most appealing and also very functional. The scale is accurate and the handle fits comfortable in the hand. Again LAL tools did not disappoint.
