This belt cutter is designed to handle strips up to 6.5 cm wide and works optimally with leather thicknesses ranging from 2mm to 5mm. Made with high-quality North American walnut wood, the cutter features two crossbars that securely hold most leather weights. To ensure the best cutting results, adjust the crossbars to a thickness of 4.5-5mm for leather around 4mm thick. The V2 version of this tool improves durability with Bakelite adjustment bars, which maintain the cutter’s classic look while offering enhanced resilience. The cutter comes with one pre-cut blade, and it is compatible with any 18mm cutter blade, offering flexibility for replacement.

What can I say…I love walnut, I love brass and I love good quality tools. And since this tool is also an essential for every leather worker, I can only recommend it to anyone who needs to cut straps. It is manufactured wonderfully and definitely worth the price. Although it is the most expensive strap cutter made from wood that I saw so far (which doesnt mean there are not a lot of others out there) it is also the visually most appealing and also very functional. The scale is accurate and the handle fits comfortable in the hand. Again LAL tools did not disappoint.
