Rawhide Lace Cutter

Description

The Rawhide Lace Cutter is a purpose-built tool designed specifically for working with rawhide and very rigid hides. It is developed in our workshop and produced using high-quality 3D printing for accuracy and consistency.

This tool is not suitable for tanned leather. To work correctly, the material must be extremely stiff, like rawhide.

Available Sizes

The cutter is available in the following lace widths:
1 mm, 1.2 mm, 1.4 mm, 1.6 mm, 1.8 mm, 2 mm, 2.2 mm, 2.4 mm, 2.6 mm, 2.8 mm, and 3 mm.

Custom sizes can be made on request, allowing you to order the exact width you need.

Each cutter is sold individually.

In addition to the 5 replaceable blades included with the Rawhide Lace Cutter, spare blades are available for separate purchase. They come in packs of 10 or 50 blades, allowing you to keep your cutter in optimal condition and ready for extended use without downtime.

Materials & Performance

• Cuts rawhide up to 1.5 mm thick

• Works with rawhide from cow, goat, sheep, horse, kangaroo, and more

• For best results, gently pull the lace slightly inward while cutting

Because rawhide is a natural material, factors such as hardness, moisture, and density can cause small variations in the final lace width. This is normal and should be expected.

This tool is 3D printed using high-quality ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), a widely used engineering thermoplastic known for its excellent balance of strength, durability, and reliability.

The use of ABS significantly improves the tool’s performance by providing high resistance to wear and deformation, especially under the friction generated when working with rawhide. This helps the cutter maintain its shape, alignment, and precision over extended use.

Cutting Methods

The Rawhide Lace Cutter allows two cutting techniques:

• Straight cuts along the length of the rawhide

• Circular cuts from the outside inward, creating a long, continuous lace that can be trimmed to the exact length needed for each project

This flexibility makes the tool ideal for braiding, traditional rawhide work, and custom leathercraft where clean and consistent laces are essential.
