Description

It is the essential tool if you work with natural vegetable tanned leather.
This filleting tool of excellence is made by a craftsman in France. The wood used is French boxwood from PEFC certified sustainable forests.

Boxwood was chosen by our ancestors to make this tool because it is one of the hardest woods and therefore allows the leather to be marked without wearing it down. Over time it will develop a patina and become your favourite tool.

Using the fileteador allows you to mark a line on the edge of the leather, either to make a decoration or to draw a line for a straight seam.
In addition, the small groove is used to guide the sewing thread. To hide the seam and to protect it from chafing, it is recommended to use an edge beveller that removes the material by digging a small groove.

This tool has four notches that allow four different lines to be made. Each line has the same thickness (approximately 1 mm), but the space between the edge of the leather and the line changes. With this tool you can make a line at 1.8 – 2.2 – 2.7 and 3.3 mm from the edge.
For decorative lines, you can make a double line by making one line at 1.8 mm and another at 2.7 mm.
